4SG Thermoplastic Spacer (TPS)

The Most Advanced Glass Technology. The Future is here.

Every Window City window uses our 4SG (TPS) sealed units, the most advanced spacer technology on the market. 4SG (TPS) chemically bonds to the glass, so Argon gas is kept between the two panes of glass.  4SG (TPS) is the only technology which offers a 40 year sealed unit warranty. Window City invested in this technology because it offers the absolute best for our customers.

4SG (TPS) Permanently Flexible Spacer

The Window City 4SG (TPS) spacer changes shape to accommodate the compression being experienced, but the conventional sealed unit deforms the spacer, which causes stress on the spacer and the adhesive used to keep the unit together.  Over time, this weakens the adhesive, which leads to seal failure.

The Window City 4SG (TPS) spacer stretches to accommodate the expansion being experienced, but the conventional sealed unit loses connection with the spacer, which creates a gap between the spacer and the glass, allowing Argon gas to escape.  Over time the conventional sealed unit seal will fail, along with its thermal performance.

Maintained Thermal Performance

Low thermal conductivity results in excellent warm edge performance

  • Minimized cooling of the insulating glass edge, creating a more comfortable interior space
  • Reduced condensation and mold spores
  • Prevention of long-term frame damage
  • Superior Gas Retention
  • Reduced heating costs, CO² emissions and overall environmental impact

Benefits:

  • Gas tight units and maintained comfort
  • Longer IG life

The Best Warm Edge Available

Ködispace 4SG units will outperform every other technology with respect to gas retention and unit life.

  • Better Energy Efficiency
  • Improved Field Performance

Ködispace 4SG IG units deliver overall Uw values at the leading-edge of current technol-ogies and maintain gas tightness better than foam spacers.

In structural glazing applications where silicone secondary sealants are specified, 4SG (TPS) provides unit protection that other warm edge IG systems cannot match.

High Performance Glass Coating Options

When the weather turns bitterly cold in Canada, LoĒ-180ESC™ glass is like a warm welcome to your home. LoĒ-180ESC™ is an update of our successful LoĒ-180™ glass and is designed to help meet the new performance requirements for ENERGY STAR® Canada in 2020. It keeps homes warmer and more comfortable by blocking heat loss to the outside and letting the sun’s heat stream in. With a glass U-Factor of just 0.26 and an SHGC of 0.71, LoĒ-180ESC™ is the ideal product for passive solar applications in Canada.

LoĒ-272™ glass is ideal for all weather conditions in most climates. In winter, it reflects heat back into rooms. In summer, its patented coating blocks 86% of the sun’s harmful ultraviolet rays and 63% of the sun’s heat. During cold weather, the insulating effect of your windows has a direct impact on how your rooms feel. Typically, 75% of the exposed surface of a window is glass, and the temperature of the room-side of the glass directly affects the air temperature in the room. The better insulated the window glass, the warmer your room will be.

The new i-89™ coating will be found on the inside surface (room side) where it reflects the escaping heat back into the room, lowering U-factors and meeting the toughest energy guidelines as well. Coupled with our LoĒ-180ESC™ and argon fill, this double pane unit delivers near triple pane performance. What’s more, i-89™ enhanced performance glass is easy to clean and there is no haze to mar the view allowing more light to come into the room.

LoĒ -366 delivers the perfect balance of solar control and high visible light transmission. This coating is designed to be in a double-pane or triple-pane insulating glass unit. It will provide comfort and energy savings during hot weather days and provide a great thermal insulating quality by preventing heat to conduct through the insulating glass unit. It also blocks 95% of UV light infiltration

At Window City our double-pane windows can be filled with argon gas to help insulate a room and minimize the transfer of heat through the window. Argon Gas is a colourless, odorless gas, that is denser than air thus adding it to the captive air in double-pane windows improves thermal insulation efficiency. Installing argon gas-filled windows can help improve your energy efficiency and lower your home energy costs.

Why choose one? Window City introduces an optimal combination of Argon/Krypton Mix to increase the energy efficiency of your windows. This combined duo also significantly reduces outside sound, adding to the privacy of your home.

Applying a Low-e coating to the exterior glass allows the sealed unit to substantially increase its performance. In the summer, the Low-E coating reflects the heat to the exterior of the home and keeps the cool air inside.  In the winter, the low-e coating keeps the heat inside and reflects the cold outside, dramatically increasing your comfort and reducing your energy usage.

Triple pane sealed units incorporate an additional piece of low-e coated glass, an additional spacer and more argon gas than a double pane sealed unit.  These additions increase the energy efficiency of your windows considerably, increasing your comfort while lowering your heating and cooling costs.  The investment in a triple pane window leads to lower greenhouse gas emissions, lower bills and better comfort in your home.

Tempered Glass

Tempered glass is at least 4 times as strong as annealed glass of the same thickness in resisting wind load and impacts. Tempered glass is also called safety glass because should it break, there will be no sharp pieces to potentially injure anyone. Tempered glass offers a significantly increased amount of safety and security to your home.

Laminated Glass

Laminated glass is constructed with two or more plies of glass permanently bonded together with a polymeric interlayer. Laminated glass offers superior safety and increased noise reduction. This means that your home will be extremely safe, but also significantly quieter than with a traditional sealed unit. Another benefit of laminated glass is the interlayer adds significant fade protection for your home furnishings and flooring.
